The Revolution
The Texas Revolution was a war in which Texas took it's independence from Mexico. Which is why this wars others name is the Texas War of Independence. This revolution lasted from October 2, 1835 to April 21, 1836. This Revolution consisted of many battles some of which were the: Battle at Gonzalez, The Battle at Goliad, and The Siege of Bexar are only some of the battles during the Revolution.
This revolution was a super important part in Texas history because without this revolution we would have never gained our independence from Mexico which would mean we would still be under Mexicos rule and that we wouldn't be our own state in the United States.
The War in 1835
October 2nd word spread of a fight. Texians from different settlements came to help them. A group of volunteers from Matrogorda. They were commanded by George M. Collinsworth to attack Goliad. They marched past an old presidioand to Copano Bay to San Antonio. He had to strengthen his army a lot. The Texians attacked in the morning when it was still dark. On October 10 they had won Goliad. Mexicans offered little resistance.When they arrived they found Stephen F Austin there urging several leaders. The next day upon rthe alert of war the Texians Went to San Antonio. Dressed in there uniforms riifles and shotguns in hand .
Tejanos acted as guids for the Texians. One week later Austtin dcided to move ase vloser to the city. And released one hundred men into the city. He gave command to Jim Bowie the man famous for knife fighting. Be cool and deliberate with there bullets only shoot if you kow you can hit. The battle at Conception cost the Mexicans 76 men.
By early November 1835 the rebellion had defeated the Mexicans.
